Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses requiring closer monitoring and management. This role involves working as part of a float team and requires strong critical thinking skills, ability to manage multiple patients, and experience with cardiac and telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients’ vital signs and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including insulin and cardiac drips.
• Perform assessments, interventions, and chart relevant data in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding care plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in a PCU or Telemetry setting.
• Active RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• NIHSS certification required prior to start.
• Experience with EPIC documentation system within the past 2 years is mandatory.
