Job Description

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive Physical Therapy services to patients through assessment, treatment plan development and implementation, as well as follow-up and discharge planning. The therapist actively assists with the clinical aspects of the department, including program development, department operations, and performance improvement activities. This role includes supervising and coordinating the Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs, as well as supervising Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Technicians, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine the status of the physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with patient and family participation, ensuring measurable goals are established.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to documentation, including initial patient evaluations and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in patient care conferences and family discussions, and provide effective education and training regarding patient care.
  • Assist with the coordination and supervision of student programs and the volunteer program.
  • Demonstrate adherence to CORE values and support performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain awareness of community agencies to facilitate appropriate referrals and networking.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in New Mexico.
  • BLS certification from AHA is required.
  • Completion of pre-employment health screening and annual screenings thereafter.
