Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Schedule

This is a night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with 36 hours guaranteed per week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will demonstrate the ability to perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy, assess and manage pain effectively, and educate patients and their families on pain management techniques. The RN will develop and revise care plans based on patient responses and evaluate their effectiveness on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care responsibilities that cater to the specific age-related needs of patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical condition while following the five medication rights.
• Formulate and execute teaching plans based on identified learning needs, involving families as appropriate.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, and other healthcare providers, ensuring respect and dignity throughout the care process.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care ensuring a safe environment to minimize medical errors.
• Communicate effectively with the unit director and other team members regarding patient care and treatment plans.
• Document care accurately according to current standards and policies.
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly as part of patient care.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organizational skills while functioning in stressful situations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery settings.
• Experience in postpartum and nursery care is required.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications through AHA are required.
• Active Ohio or compact nurse license is required at the time of submission.
• BSN degree is preferred.
