This position follows an 8-hour day shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break.
Job Description
The Unit Manager will oversee the 8th Floor Med/Tele Unit and the ED Hold/Float Pool. This role involves managing a team in a fast-paced hospital setting, ensuring quality patient care and staff support.
Responsibilities
- Manage the operations of a 25-bed Med/Tele Unit.
- Supervise nursing staff and ensure adherence to patient care standards.
- Work with a mixed acuity patient population, including those with stroke, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and respiratory issues.
- Provide leadership in patient care while maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (1:5 for Med/Surg; 1:4 for Telemetry).
- Coordinate with tele/monitor techs and respiratory therapists for patient monitoring and treatments.
- Support staff by addressing issues and facilitating professional development.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must have prior Unit Manager experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience in Stroke and Telemetry required; ability to read and interpret telemetry is essential.
- Must possess BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Must have completed 8 hours of stroke education (additional training provided).
