Job Description
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy services to patients recovering from various conditions, including strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic injuries. The COTA works under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist to develop and administer treatment plans that facilitate the patient’s rehabilitation process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans as established by the supervising occupational therapist.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to patient needs during therapy sessions.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic processes and home care practices.
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and outcomes.
- Utilize standard rehab equipment and technology to aid in therapy sessions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- COTA certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant rehabilitation setting preferred.
- Experience with adult and geriatric populations, especially in neuro and orthopedic contexts, is preferred but not required.
