Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) utilizes evidence-based practice to provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders. This role operates under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist while adhering to regulatory and clinical practice requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administer various treatment procedures as outlined in the rehabilitation plan, including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments as necessary.
• Document all required information in the electronic documentation system and maintain patient records according to company policy.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers related to physical disorders.
• Effectively communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Participate in required meetings and trainings related to patient care and professional development.
• Assist in obtaining necessary Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.

Schedule

This is a full-time position consisting of 8-hour shifts on weekdays.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required.
• Recent graduates are welcome as long as they have completed Level II clinical experience.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
• Current PTA license in Texas is required.
