Vascular Access Nurse

Schedule

This position operates on a DAYS schedule, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM or 5:30 PM. The role requires flexibility to work 8-hour or 10-hour shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, including one weekend shift per contracted week.

Job Description

The Vascular Access Nurse is a hospital-wide role that supports all inpatient and outpatient units as part of the Vascular Access Team (VAT). This nurse specializes in the insertion, removal, management, and care of vascular access devices, ensuring their safe placement, functionality, and maintenance. Responsibilities include assisting patients with difficult vascular access and performing procedures such as IV placements, PICC placements, IVAD access, lab draws, and other vascular access maintenance activities. The nurse will not carry a traditional patient assignment beyond the patient receiving the procedure or vascular access service. On weekends, the vascular access nurse works independently while maintaining close communication with the Clinical Resource Administrator.

Required Experience and Certifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience.
• Active New York RN license.
• AHA BLS certification.

Assignment Duration

This is a 16-week contract position.
