Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides high-quality patient care for those requiring close monitoring and advanced therapeutics. The nurse will work in a team-oriented environment, ensuring efficient patient management and support.

Responsibilities

• Perform hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights.
• Utilize the AIDET framework for patient communications.
• Manage complex cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips.
• Conduct peritoneal dialysis and assist with other invasive procedures such as thoracentesis and paracentesis.
• Document patient care accurately using the Meditech system.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
• Ensure proper care protocols are followed, including the use of communication boards and technology.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license and certification in BLS and ACLS are required.
• Must possess critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret EKG rhythm.
• Experience with cardiac drips and diabetes management (insulin and heparin).
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis is preferred.
• Proficient in peripheral IV skills and multiple oxygen delivery systems, including bipaps and high-flow oxygen.
• Previous experience in stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care is desired.
