Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) - Night Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 16-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating night/evening shifts, including every other weekend and holidays as scheduled. Shifts are available as 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30) or 4x12-hour (15:00 - 03:30).

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients of all age ranges, from infants to geriatrics, in a fast-paced ED setting. The RN will work within a team to assess, plan, and implement treatment plans, ensuring a high standard of care is maintained.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care for diverse diagnoses and complex cases.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize and execute patient care effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement care plans.
• Administer medications and manage IVs, including blood product administration.
• Provide support for patients experiencing acute psychosis and other mental health conditions.
• Conduct triage and emergency assessments in a high-acuity environment.
• Perform technical procedures including intubation, central line care, and chest tube management.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of emergency department nursing experience required.
• Active RN license in Maryland or compact state required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (completed during onboarding); NRP and TNCC preferred.
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred.
• Charge nurse experience is required.
