This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist performs a variety of tasks in an operating room to assist the surgical team. Responsibilities include arranging a sterile setup for surgical procedures, passing instruments to surgeons, preparing sterile supplies, and ensuring the operating room is clean and stocked.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment and check their proper operation.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring aseptic incision sites.
  • Assist in transporting and positioning patients on the operating table.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to the surgical team during surgery.
  • Help count sponges, needles, and instruments, and assist in care for specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
  • Ensure proper labeling of medications handed to the surgeon.
  • Assist in post-surgery transfer of patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is mandatory.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) is preferred.
