Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, thus ensuring the highest standards of patient and employee safety are upheld.
Responsibilities
- Performs a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
- Identifies teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient.
- Participates in patient rehabilitation programs, focusing on the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Initiates discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Ensures continuity of care by effectively communicating changes in patient status.
- Provides training and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Assures personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Maintains communication with management regarding staffing and supply needs.
- Contributes positively to the unit's work environment and participates in team-building activities.
- Assumes charge responsibility as requested after an orientation period.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift for CIRH only.
- Minimum of two (2) years bedside clinical experience required.
Schedule
This position operates on a night shift schedule, working 3x12 hour shifts.
