Job Description
The ED Holding RN is a vital support position located within the Float Pool, responsible for managing patients in the ED holding unit who are awaiting inpatient beds. This role involves providing care for patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses, including PCU level patients, in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for patients in the ED holding area.
- Monitor patient vitals and administer medications as needed.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and ensure thorough patient documentation.
- Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.
- Participate in emergency response situations, including mass casualty events.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Active RN license (NC or Compact license accepted).
- 2 years of MS/Tele and ED holding experience required.
- BLS & NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred.
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred.
- Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
