Job Description
The Invasive Cardiac Technologist independently performs imaging procedures and is responsible for a variety of technical procedures involving ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The role requires a strong understanding of imaging techniques, patient preparation, and monitoring systems.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for interventional procedures.
- Exhibit a clear understanding of patient preparation and equipment operations.
- Support other departments with general radiographic procedures as needed.
- Foster an environment that ensures patient safety and supports aseptic techniques.
- Administer contrast under the direction of the proceduralist.
- Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers, displaying compassion and respect.
- Work as a team member to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Identify patients accurately using two patient identifiers and following universal protocols.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required.
- Ensure proper coding for exams and that all exams are networked for archiving.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required, with preferred experience of at least 1 year in a cath lab setting.
- Valid ARRT Certificate, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and compliance with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73.
Schedule
This position requires working 4 ten-hour shifts, primarily during the day (M-F, 7 AM - 5:30 PM), with 24/7 on-call coverage during weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
