Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality patient care through adherence to the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, promoting patient and employee safety in accordance with Select Medical's Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Conducts nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Develops individualized care plans based on assessment data, collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Documents all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Participates in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritizes education for patients and families.
• Initiates discharge planning and patient teaching upon admission.
• Communicates changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Provides direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel and delegates appropriately.
• Ensures personal and environmental safety in accordance with nursing policies and procedures.
• Actively supports a positive and efficient work environment through team-building activities.
• Maintains communication with management regarding service needs and supplies.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as needed after the orientation period.
• Engages in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
• Stepdown experience is required.

Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift for CIRH only.
