This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, with a guarantee of 36 or 48 hours.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria. The RN will assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, including LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.
Responsibilities
- Manage post-operative open-heart care, including chest tube and drain management.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, responding to changes effectively.
- Assist with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, and management of temporary pacers.
- Use and troubleshoot non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices and other oxygen delivery systems.
- Float to all units within skill level as required.
Required Experience
- 2+ years of experience in nursing.
- Post-operative open-heart care experience.
- Critical care experience is highly preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
- Nursys must show an active Ohio or Compact RN license.
