Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to adult patients experiencing various medical issues, including but not limited to cardiovascular conditions, respiratory failures, and post-surgical recovery. You will work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team supported by specialized services such as IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient ratio of 4:1 to 6:1 depending on acuity.
• Administer medications and monitor patients with cardiac drips (e.g., amiodarone, diltiazem).
• Utilize advanced monitoring techniques, including continuous cardiac telemetry and BiPAP/CPAP management.
• Perform assessments, develop care plans, and manage the execution of those plans for optimal patient outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and protocols for infection control.
• Document patient care activities efficiently within Cerner or other charting systems.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a progressive care or similar acute care setting.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Active Pennsylvania or Compact state nursing license required at submission.
