Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system under the general direction of a physician. Responsibilities include reading prescriptions, assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and operating respiratory therapy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions and review patient information to assess conditions and determine requirements for treatment.
• Administer inhalants and adjust therapy methods in accordance with physician's orders.
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.
• Monitor patient's physiological responses and document pertinent information in their charts.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises.
• Respond to all code situations and consult with physicians in case of adverse reactions.

Required Experience

2 years of experience is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT)
• State License (New York and Maryland)
• NRP may be required for certain facilities.
