Description

Position: BHMC - Xray (Radiologic) Tech
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Pay Rate: $ 56/hr
Schedule: 3.45 Pm - 12 Am - SATURDAY & SUNDAY ONLY , 11:45 Pm - 8:00 Am - OVERNIGHT - 3 days Sunday into Monday, Tuesday into Wednesday, Thursday into Friday 


Duties:
--Treatment of patients:
-Arrange treatment appointments.
-Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician's instructions.
-Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
--Pre-Treatment Preparation:
-Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.
-Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.
-Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
-Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc.
--Patient Care Activities:
-Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides proper care and instructions to patients.
-Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also lifestyle modifications.
-Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.
-Prepare Cerrobend alloy blocks.
-Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.
-Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.
-Take and develop radiographs.
-Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.
 
Requirements:
-Knowledge of radiologic equipment in use at BHMC Good patient interpersonal skills.
-Ability to read and speak English Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
-Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
-Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-Six (6) months to one (1) year of x-ray or radiologic experience.
-High School diploma or equivalent.
-Graduate of accredited radiologic program.
-Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment.
