Radiation Oncology
5 days per week
8 hours per shift
8:00 am to 4:30 pm- may occasionally stay over if needed.Duties:

Job Summary:
Under the clinical direction of the Radiation Oncologists, the Radiation Oncology Manager is a clinical leader who provides supervision, and clinical oversight as an essential member of the radiation oncology team. The individual primarily directs and coordinates the overall day-to-day business operations for the clinic and treatment areas, as well as the practice management functions of the office. Ensures implementation of processes and controls to ensure communication and information flow between sites of service, hospital management, and the radiation oncology physician practice. The manager oversees human resource decisions, accreditation/regulatory standards, fiscal adherence, productivity and establishes policies/procedures that are in line with improving the patient experience. This position works in collaboration with the Infusion Manager and the Oncology Executive Director to promote the growth and integration of the Oncology Service line.


Job Responsibilities:
Administers ionizing radiation.
Documents accurate record treatment data in chart.
Assess patient’s needs and necessity to see the doctor.
Checks charts for mathematical errors.
Stocks treatment rooms with linen and supplies.
Maintains knowledge of equipment in all areas.
Participates in the education of students of the Radiologic Technology Program and Radiation Therapy Program.
Stays up-to-date in all procedures.
Assists Radiation Oncologist in performing simulations and fabricating immobilization devices.
Familiar with all aspects of utilization of the CT simulator.
Demonstrates proficiency in proper techniques for treatment of cancer patients in order to train clinical students.
Takes the lead on training all students and facilitates communications about students among all areas of cancer care services
Consults with Radiation Oncologist regarding examinations as necessary.
Checks patients schedule with family or care tenders.
Communicates effectively with staff, peers, management, and physicians and keeping them informed of current department activities.
Explains rationale of all procedures to patients/families (age range - neonatal to geriatric.)
Monitors and records progress of the student and communicates to the radiation therapy program director in a timely fashion.
Counsels and meets with students monthly to discuss the student progress in the program.
Ensures area is secured at end of shift.
Serves as clinical instructor for radiation therapy student as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:
-No Experience.
-Basic computer skills.
-Able to operate standard office equipment.
-Posses excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
-Able to work well with minimal supervision.
-Good clinical knowledge of all aspects of the job, including radiotherapy treatment units and treatment procedures, simulation, field blocking techniques, immobilization device fabrication, and basic patient care skills.
-Must be able to be on call, including weekends and holidays, and flexible to work above-standard hours to meet staffing needs.
-Accepts responsibility for words, actions, attitude, and results while meeting deadlines and performance expectations.
-Practices effective, clear, and respectful communications (both verbal and written) and demonstrates attentiveness through active listening and engaged body language.
-Collaborates, respects, and cooperates with all co-workers, valuing differences and addressing concerns directly, while actively contributing to the vision and results of the team.
