Requirements Travellers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: Will float to other Med/Surg units

Unit Information:
Beds: 24
Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years MST
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, dependent on experience. Must have a strong background in MST

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
General Medicine - DM, GI, Resp, Renal, Wounds/Dressing Changes, chest tubes, trachs, lab draws required

Patient Ratios:
RN: 5-6:1
CNA: 8:1

Required Licensure & Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)

Skills required:
Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, solid written and oral communication skills, ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels, and experience reading telemetry strips
Chest tubes, traches, PIV starts, drain & tubes, PCA pumps
Gtts management – Amiodarone (occasionally), Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin

Support within the Department:
CNA: Duties – Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assist RN where needed
Receptionist/HUC
Charge nurse
Phlebotomy
IV/VAT Team? No
Rapid Response Team
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
Intensivist 24/7
Telemetry monitoring/tech? Centralized Telemetry

Technology/Equipment:
EMR: Epic
IV Pump: Alaris
Med dispensing: Omnicell

Floating: If yes, where?
Yes, to other MedSurg units

Orientation (facility and unit):
NEO
2 days departmental

Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: every other
No call
Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
RTO: Manager approval
Shift times: 0630-1900 or 1830-0630
Schedule cycle: 6 weeks schedule
