Burlington - Sterile Processing Serv


● About Facility:
o 50 bed facility
o Trauma level III
o No NICU level
o Primary Stroke Center
o 252 McHenry St, Burlington, WI 53105
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 3 ORs
▪ Census?
● 5 per day at Burlington
● 15 per day at Southern Lakes
● 7 per day at Lakeland
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General, GYN, ENT, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, Vascular
● Required License, National Certification, Certs:
o None
● Skills required:
o Must be able to assemble, sterilize, decontaminate, and wrap instruments/equipment
o High level disinfection
o Instrument inspection
● Support within the Department:
o Usually, another SPT except on call and when census is low
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC – used for viewing surgeries
o Unit specific equipment:
▪ Steris sterilizer/washer – required
▪ V-pro – required
▪ SPM Tracking – experience preferred
● Floating: If yes, where?
o Can float to one of 2 sites:
▪ Lakeland Hospital Elkhorn, WI
▪ Southern Lakes Burlington, WI
▪ This can be on a weekly basis/census, it just depends
▪ There is a chance of mid shift floating, but they will likely know where they will be going before their shift begins
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 1-3 days on unit, based on comfort
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation:
o On call? Yes
▪ Once every 3rd weekend (Friday evening – Sunday afternoon)
▪ No call during the week
▪ Response time is 45 minutes
o Holiday Expectations: 1 summer, 1 winter
o Approval of RTO: to go through manager
o Shift times: 0630-1500
o Schedule cycle:
