Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical / Surgical

Unit: 604C Acute Surgery Unit
Location: 450 Northside Cherokee Boulevard, Canton, GA 30115
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Schedule:

• Night Shift
• 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Monday – Sunday rotation
• 36 hours per week

Important Note:

• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible for this position.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical Acute Surgery Unit is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from surgical procedures and acute medical conditions. The RN will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the recovery process.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Medical/Surgical or Acute Surgery nursing
• Certifications Required:
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice or compact license)

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to medical and post-surgical patients in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate patient responses to treatment.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately following physician orders.
• Monitor patients for post-operative complications, changes in condition, and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, recovery processes, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Support a patient-centered care environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
