Location: WILLIAM M. DAVIES, JR. CAREER & TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL, Lincoln RI

Full Day hours: 7:25am - 2pm
Full-time coverage is required on April 14, and May 1 through May 26 (Monday–Friday). Outside of these dates, we are flexible and will consider any weekday daytime availability, up to full-time hours (35 hours per week). We understand that availability may be limited and are open to candidates who can commit to a reduced number of weekly hours through the end of the school year on June 10. Qualifications

- RI Secondary School Nurse Teacher Certification
- Valid experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of RIDE high school reform and current educational practices.
- Five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.
- Ensure that every student who enrolls must have a medical history and physical examination completed, on file.
- Perform all screenings for students prescribed by regulations in the Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs.
- Maintain complete, cumulative school health records for all enrolled students. They shall be kept confidential and subject to the provision of chapter 5-37.3-1 of the RIGL and other applicable state and federal laws and rules and regulations.
- Secure all health records at all times.
- Establish, document, and enforce protocols and procedures consistent with the confidentiality requirements.
- Document the release of confidential health care information from cumulative school health records in accordance with section 5-37.3-4 of the RIGL ( "Health Care Information Act " of reference and other applicable state and federal laws and rules and regulations using the format outlined in 14.4.2.1 – 14.4.2.4 in Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs.
- Maintain the confidentiality of health records by following 14.3 in Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs.
- Responsible for the notification to parents and/or Client of any suspected deviation from normal or usual health found as a result of a screening test, health examination, and/or school personnel observation, in accordance with all applicable state and/or federal laws and regulations.
- Develop procedures or protocols for documenting and implementing a follow-up and referral plan for students identified as needing additional services.
- Report facts to the Department of Health of any knowledge of an outbreak or undue prevalence of infectious or parasitic disease or infestation (based upon his/her professional judgment) in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Reporting of Communicable Environmental and Occupational Diseases.
- Responsible for written protocols and standing orders available in the event of injuries and acute illnesses, including anaphylaxis. These are to be reviewed annually according to the Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs in 17.0.
- Notify the Director/Principal or Director's designee whenever students and/or staff have suffered an accident and submit proper paperwork. A logbook shall be maintained that follows 17.11.2.1-12.11.2.6. Staff will be assessed for medical injury and issued the RI State labeled Incident/Injury Report Form.
- Notify appropriate staff of notice of injury or illness that prohibits a student from participating in physical education or whose physical condition may affect their performance in the classroom.
- Coordinates all physicals for students deserving to participate in Interscholastic Sports with the athletic department and administration.
- Maintain and develop protocols and procedures related to medication administrative as delineated in 18.0 in the Rules and Regulations for School Health Program.
- Provide input to the Director/Principal or her/his designee on a healthful school environment and serve on any health/safety committee to assist in providing a healthy environment for students and staff.
- Shall notify the proper authorities at the Department of Children, Youth and Families, in accordance with the requirements of chapter 40-11 of the RIGL and the guide to identifying and reporting child abuse in the schools, Rhode Island Department of Education if there is reasonable cause to know or suspect that any child has been abused or neglected.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal or the Supervisor of Diverse Learners.

Regularly and essential to this position, the individual must be organized and meet deadlines with strict time constraints.
