🏥 Facility Overview

• 167-bed acute care hospital
• Level II Trauma Center
• Level III NICU & Maternity Center
• Certified Primary Stroke Center

🛏 Unit Details – PACU

• Main PACU:
  • 33 pre/post-op rooms
  • 10 Phase I recovery bays
• East PACU:
  • 33 pre/post-op rooms
  • 17 Phase I recovery bays
• Both units located in same facility (1st & 2nd floors)
• Combined daily volume: 60–80 patients

👩‍⚕️ Patient Population / Cases

• Adult & pediatric patients
• Inpatient, outpatient, and observation cases
• Surgical specialties include:
  • General, ortho, GI, urology, plastics
  • Bariatric, GYN, ENT
  • Neurosurgery (spine, craniotomies)
  • Cardiothoracic (no open heart)
  • Interventional radiology, cath lab, bronchoscopy
• Occasional intubated patients in PACU (rare)

📊 Patient Ratios

• Pre-Op: 1:3
• Phase I Recovery: 1:2
• Phase II Recovery: 1:3

📜 Requirements

• Active RN License
• Minimum 2 years PACU (Phase I & II) experience
• First-time travelers considered with strong PACU background
• Certifications:
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • CAPA or CPAN (required – either accepted)

🛠 Required Skills

• PACU recovery (Phase I & II)
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Cardiac drip management
• Post-anesthesia patient monitoring
• Discharge education & patient teaching
• Strong preference for experience with:
  • Post-cath patients
  • Bronchoscopy recovery
  • IR/Neuro IR recovery

Hard Stops (Required Experience):

• Arterial lines
• TR bands
• Chest tubes
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Epic EMR

👥 Support Staff

• Charge RN & leadership team
• CNA/LPN support (pre-op & Phase II)
• Anesthesiologists & CRNAs
• Surgeons
• Respiratory Therapy (24/7)
• Hospitalist (24/7)
• Telemetry monitoring (no tele tech)

💻 Technology

• EMR: Epic (required)
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

🔄 Floating

• Floating between:
  • Phase I & Phase II Recovery
  • Main & East PACU units
• No floating outside PACU

🧭 Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• 2 shifts (8-hour) unit orientation

📅 Scheduling & Policies

• No weekends
• No call (cannot pick up call)
• No holidays required
• Up to 4 days RTO approved
• Set schedule (Monday–Friday)
