Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Department: Respiratory Care / Diagnostic Services (736A)
Location: 1000 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30342
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Nights – 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Local Policy: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy (within specialty)
- Required Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- RRT Certification (Registered Respiratory Therapist – NBRC)
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and ventilator support
- Operate and monitor mechanical ventilators and other respiratory care equipment
- Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases (ABGs), pulmonary function tests, and pulse oximetry
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans
- Respond to emergency situations, including code blue and rapid response calls
- Provide airway management, including intubation assistance and suctioning
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care
