Position: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Cleveland Clinic (Agency Request)
Position Summary: Provides high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate family-centered support.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform comprehensive assessments; interpret clinical changes; initiate appropriate nursing interventions and escalation.
•Manage and monitor critically ill patients including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, titratable infusions, and invasive lines/drains as unit scope allows.
•Administer medications and blood products per policy; verify high-alert medications and infusion settings with required independent double checks.
•Implement orders, care pathways, and bundles (e.g., sepsis, VAP, CLABSI prevention) and document accurately in the EHR.
•Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and ancillary services; participate in rounds and handoffs using standardized communication tools.
•Provide patient/family education, support, and advocacy, including end-of-life care when applicable.
•Maintain competency with emergency response (code blue/rapid response), critical equipment, and infection prevention standards.
Required Qualifications:
•Current, unrestricted RN license (Ohio or compact, as applicable).
•BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required.
•Minimum ICU experience as required by unit/contract; strong critical thinking and prioritization skills.
•Ability to work rotating weekends/holidays per staffing needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
•CCRN certification.
•Experience with ventilator management, vasoactive drips, CRRT, and/or post-operative critical care (as applicable to unit needs).
•Familiarity with EPIC or similar EHR systems.
Physical/Other Requirements:
•Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and assist with patient handling and emergency procedures.
•Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and adherence to Cleveland Clinic policies, patient privacy, and safety standards.
