Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) – 13 Week Contract

Location: Austin, TX
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (12-hour nights; days may be available)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT accepted) to join a collaborative and high-volume Respiratory Therapy department. This role supports a dynamic acute care environment with a strong, experienced team.

Unit Details

  • Department: Respiratory Therapy (Facility Dept. #75479)
  • Location: SDMC – RT Department (Basement)
  • Team Size: ~50 staff members
  • Shift Coverage:
    • Days: 1 Supervisor 7–9 staff
    • Nights: 1 Supervisor 7–9 staff
  • Workload: ~35–40 patient interactions per shift (volume-based assignments)

Schedule & Requirements

  • Weekend Requirement: Rotating (approx. 4 weekend shifts/month)
  • On-Call: Not required

Required Qualifications

  • Adult respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adult critical care experience (ICU or Emergency Department)

Key Responsibilities

  • Nebulizer treatments
  • Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
  • Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection
  • Ventilator management
  • BiPAP/CPAP support (V60)
  • High-flow nasal cannula (Airvo)
  • Inhaled nitric oxide therapy
  • Assistance with:
    • Bronchoscopy
    • Intubation
  • Transporting ventilated patients within the hospital (CT, MRI, etc.)

  • Ventilators
  • V60 BiPAP machines
  • Airvo HFNC systems
  • EMR: Meditech
