Registered Nurse (RN) – Staff Nurse (Contract)

Schedule: Nights | 12.5-hour shifts (6:30 PM – 7:30 AM)
Shift Length: 12.5 Hours (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Extension Possible)

Position Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, coordinating nursing services, supervising support staff, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions from admission through discharge.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments according to facility policies.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Respond to medical emergencies and behavioral situations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and documentation standards.
• Support and assist with unit workflow and staff orientation as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (or higher)
• Active Indiana RN License or NLC Compact RN License
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Cerner EMR experience preferred (Epic experience accepted)
• Behavioral intervention training preferred (training provided during orientation)

Schedule & Requirements

• Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend and holiday rotation required (typically 3 of every 6 weekends)
• Must be willing to float to other units within scope of practice.
• 13-week assignment with the possibility of extension.

Orientation

• 3-week mandatory orientation (no absences permitted).
• Includes classroom training followed by unit-based orientation.
• CPR and behavioral intervention training will be provided if needed.

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and patient assistance.
• Exposure to infectious diseases and other healthcare-related hazards.
• PPE required as appropriate.

Ideal Candidate

An experienced RN with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, EMR proficiency, and the flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and float as needed.
