Shift 12hr Day Shift (36) Shift Information 0700-1930
On Call, Call Back Requirements none
Weekend Rotation EOW Holiday Requirements every other holiday
Floating Requirements If our census dips, typically rare Patient Service Area (PSA) DNU Central Wisconsin
Facility Overview
- Location: Grafton
- Level III Trauma Center
- Level II NICU
- Primary Stroke Center
- Facility Size: 136 beds
- COVID vaccine required
Unit Details – Critical Care ICU
- Unit: 2nd Floor ICU
- Beds: 17
- Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- No On-Call required
- Free parking
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
- First-time travelers accepted with 3 years ICU experience
- CRRT/NxStage experience preferred

General ICU
- COVID
- Sepsis
- ETOH withdrawal
- IVDA
- Overdose (OD)
- Suicidal Ideation (SI)
- Delirium
- GI Bleed
- Stroke with TPA
- Acute Renal Failure
Surgical Cases
- General surgery
- Open abdomen
- Orthopedic total joints
- ENT
- OBGYN
Cardiac/Vascular
- Fem-pop bypass
- CABG
- Valve surgeries
- Post-cath (radial approach)
- AAA
- Amputations
No complex neuro cases; post TNK/TPA only.
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios
- ICU RN Ratio: 1:2 (acuity-based)
- CNA Ratio:
- Days: 1:8
- Nights: 1:17
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
Preferred

Required Skills
Strong ICU background required, including:
- Ventilator & trach management
- Invasive lines:
- A-line
- CVP
- Swann-Ganz
- Drain/tube management
- Foley care
- Chest tubes
- Post-surgical recovery
- Post-cath recovery
- Fresh heart experience preferred
- CVVH
- Balloon Pumps
- CRRT (NxStage)
Unit Support
- Intensivist coverage 24/7
- Respiratory Therapy 24/7
- ICU Pharmacist (days)
- Charge RN (may take assignment)
- Unit Secretary (0700–1930)
- Educator support
- Phlebotomy team
- Bedside telemetry monitoring
EMR & Equipment
- EPIC preferred
- Alaris pumps
- Pyxis
Floating Expectations
Travelers float first to:
- Intermediate Units (1:3)
- MSU
- ED Boarding (1:4)
- Observation Units (1:4)
Orientation
- 1-day orientation
- Meet educator at 0800:
- Badge access
- CBLs
- Login setup
- Meet Nurse Manager
- Remaining shift with preceptor
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Any color
- No camo, denim, or hoodies
- PPE provided:
- N95
- PAPRs
- More than 2 sick calls may result in contract review/possible termination
- RTO subject to manager approval
