• Level III Trauma Center
• Level II NICU
• Primary Stroke Center
• Beds: 136
• Covid vaccine required
• General Information
• Beds: 17
• Experience: 3 years ICU experience; preference CRRT experience (Nxstage)
• First-time traveler: 3 years of ICU experience
• Patient Types:
• General: COVID, sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GIB, Stroke w TPA, ARF
• Surgical: general, open abd, ortho (total joints), ENT, OBGYN
• Cardiac/Vascular: Fem-pop bypass, CABG, valves, post cath (radial approach), AAA, amputations
• No complex neuro- post TNK/TPA
• Covid & PPE:
• N95
• PAPRs
• Adequate PPE provided
• Patient Ratios:
• RN: 1:2 (acuity based)
• CNA: 1:8 days, 1:17 nights
• Required Certifications:
• Required: BLS, ACLS
• Preferred: NIHSS
• Skills required
• Required:

- General ICU experience: Vent/trach management, invasive line management (A-line, CVP, Swann), drains/tube management, foley management, chest tubes, post-surgical recovery, post cath experience, fresh heart experience (preferred), CVVH, Balloon Pumps, CRRT (NxStage)
• Support on the Unit:
• Charge Nurse: Occasional patient assignment
• Unit Secretary (0700-1930)
• Intensivist 24/7
• ICU specific Pharmacist (day shift only)
• RT 24/7
• Phlebotomy team for peripheral draws
• Educator
• bedside telemetry monitoring
• Charting System/Equipment:
• EPIC (preferred)
• Alaris
• Pyxis
• Floating:
• Intermediate units (1:3)
• MSU
• ED Boarding (1:4)
• Observation units (1:4)
• Travelers will float first
• Orientation:
• 1 Day of orientation
• 1 st day: 0800 meet with educator (badge access, CBLs, login access, etc.)
• Meet and Greet with Nurse Manager
• Remainder of the shift with a preceptor
• Scheduling:
• Weekend rotation: every other
• Shift:
• Day: 0700-1930
• RTO: pending manager approval
• No On Call
• Other notes:
• Scrub Color: Any color; no camo/denim/hoodies
• Parking: Free
• More than 2 sick calls will prompt discussion with traveler and evaluation of contract and possible contract termination.
