Hiring profile
Years of Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years NICU Transport experience
Must have:
· Neonatal Airway & Ventilation: Mask ventilation, airway stabilization, ventilator management (conventional, HFOV, CPAP/NIV, HFNC), transport ventilators.
· Transport Operations: Transport physiology, isolette systems, equipment troubleshooting, oxygen management, EMS integration, safety protocols.
· Critical Neonatal Care: RDS, MAS, PPHN, BPD, sepsis, thermoregulation, hemodynamic support, early recognition of deterioration.
· Communication: Clear team communication, efficient handoffs, coordination with sending/receiving facilities.
· Safety & Emergencies: NRP skills, crisis management (equipment failure, respiratory decline), infection control.
Advanced skills needed:
· Understanding of transport physiology (effects of motion, vibration, altitude, temperature).
· Safe operation and troubleshooting of transport isolette systems.
· Knowledge of ground and air transport safety protocols (EMS integration).
· Ability to manage equipment restraints, power sources, and gas supply monitoring during transport.
· Proficiency in documenting transport events, interventions, and patient assessments.
Procedures performed on unit:
· Bag-mask ventilation proficiency.
· Securing and managing advanced airways.
· Assisting with line placements, PIV or UVC and transport stabilization.
· Point-of-care testing ABG/CBG, glucose, etc., depending on facility.
Certifications Required:
RRT/CRT, NRP, PALS required; STABLE preferred; annual transport competencies.
Dress Code: (Required uniform)
· Black on Black scrubs
