Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician – Infusion Pharmacy to join a busy hospital infusion pharmacy team in West Chester, PA. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, labeling, and dispensing sterile IV medications while ensuring compliance with USP <797>, hospital policies, and regulatory standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of infusion medications.
• Prepare sterile IV admixtures, chemotherapy (if applicable), and compounded medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Perform sterile compounding following USP <797> guidelines and aseptic technique.
• Accurately label, package, and deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies, including receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory.
• Operate automated pharmacy equipment and medication dispensing systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the pharmacy information system.
• Perform medication preparation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Assist with quality assurance, medication storage, and expiration date monitoring.
• Maintain cleanliness of the IV clean room and comply with infection control procedures.
• Follow all hospital, state, federal, USP, and Joint Commission standards.
• Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe patient care.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB/CPhT) required .
• Previous hospital or infusion pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with sterile compounding and IV admixture preparation.
• Knowledge of USP <797> sterile compounding standards.
• Strong computer and pharmacy information system skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital inpatient or infusion pharmacy.
• Experience with IV preparation, hazardous drug handling (USP <800>), and automated dispensing systems.
• Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic pharmacy systems.

• Rotating Day Shift

  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Must be flexible to work either shift based on department needs.
