Assignment Details

  • Facility: Christiana Hospital – Newark, DE
  • Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Telemetry
  • Unit: 5B Medical
  • Location: Newark, Delaware
  • Contract Length: 13 or 25 Weeks (Firm End Date: March 27, 2027)
  • Start Date: October 6, 2026
  • Shift: 12-Hour Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Unit Size: 31–40 Beds
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd Weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Every Other Holiday
  • Float Requirement: Other inpatient units with comparable levels of care as needed.
  • Special Procedures: None specified.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Telemetry experience.
  • EMR Requirement: Recent Epic experience required.
  • License Requirement: Active Delaware RN License or Compact RN License in hand.
  • Submission Requirements: RN license number and expiration date, certification details with expiration dates, full SSN, DOB, address, and all requested RTO at the time of submission.
  • Scheduling Requirements: Maximum of 3 days RTO; no block scheduling permitted.
  • Interview Process: Auto Offer (Tele List B).
 
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients on a 31–40 bed Medical Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, promptly recognizing and responding to rhythm changes and patient deterioration.
  • Care for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses including diabetes, cellulitis, congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, COVID-19, stroke, altered mental status (AMS), and urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  • Administer IV medications, antibiotics, cardiac medications, anticoagulants, insulin, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
  • Perform comprehensive neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, and physical assessments while monitoring patient progress throughout hospitalization.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, medication management, discharge instructions, and post-hospital follow-up care.
  • Respond appropriately to rapid response events, patient emergencies, and code situations while following hospital protocols.
  • Float to other inpatient units with similar levels of care based on patient census and staffing needs.
  • Adhere to infection prevention standards, medication safety guidelines, patient safety initiatives, and hospital policies to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Participate in bedside shift report and provide detailed clinical handoff communication to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain compliance with ChristianaCare's policies regarding meal breaks, documentation, scheduling, and patient safety.
