Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 8hr Day Shift (40) Shift Information: Mon-Fri 0630-1500 Clinical Interviewing- No On Call, Call Back Requirements: Weeknight, weekend and holiday call divided among 3 SA's. Weekend Rotation: On call roughly 1-2 weekends per month Holiday Requirements: Holiday call divided evenly among assists Floating Requirements: N/A

About Facility:

• Level II Trauma Center
• Primary Stroke Center
• Beds: 91

Unit Information:

• Suites: 10, only run 7 rooms at a time
• Census: 12-20 cases per day

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years for all specialties

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes for all specialties

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Adults: Lots of Ortho/Neuro cases. Total joints. Craniotomies, laminectomies (level 1-2), fusions, robotic (Davinci XI), Gallbladder, colectomy, general surgery, bariatric, urology
• Peds: ENT, emergent cases (appy)

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

• RN: BLS; AORN preferred
• Surgical Tech: BLS; CST preferred
• Surgical Assist: BLS, CSA

Skills required:

• For All: experience with above patient types. Must have STRONG experience in ortho (total joints, fem/tibial rodding), Neuro (laminectomies, burr holes)
• Surgical Assistants - interchangeably as a CST. MUST be comfortable performing Surgical Assist and Surgical Tech duties. Please confirm in interview and document in offer email that this was discussed.
• If the requisition is for Charge Nurse : Experienced OR circulator that has a strong skill set for neuro/ortho/general/ENT cases, strong EPIC skills as they will also help to schedule add on cases, oversee staff and assignments and work with the trauma call team, able to support and circulate the cases

Support within the Department:

• Charge nurse: is not a part of cases but helps with lunch breaks
• Educator
• Phlebotomy/RN: draws blood
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Unit Secretary
• In house team of RN and ST 24/7 for Trauma Support
• Bedside tele monitoring by anesthesia

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Unit specific equipment: DaVinci XI Robot

Floating: If yes, where: No

Orientation (facility and unit) : Total of one week of orientation with preceptor. Will meet with educator during this time

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: see below
• On call: Yes
• 4 weeknight call shifts per month (EOS – 0630 the following morning)
• 1 full weekend per month (EOS Friday – Monday 0630)
• 30-minute response time
• 1 Sleep Room available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Need to request key ahead of time from manager.
• Cover OB call after 1700 weekdays and weekends
• Holiday Expectations: call only, will be put in rotation
• Approval of RTO: to go through manager
