Description
RN – Rehab | Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, DE
- Position: Registered Nurse – Rehabilitation
- Unit: Center for Rehabilitation
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour Nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
- Holiday Requirement: As required by the facility
- Call: Not specified
- Block Scheduling: Not available
- Floating: Yes – to areas within the RN's demonstrated acuity/competency
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Rehab experience – no exceptions
- EMR: Recent Epic experience is required
- License: Active Delaware RN or Compact RN license must be in hand
- Interview: Auto Offer – Rehab List B
- RTO: Maximum 3 days; all RTO must be submitted at initial submission. Additional RTO requests will not be screened/considered.
- Radius Rule: 50-mile rule applies for local candidates.
Clinical Requirements
- Provide rehabilitation nursing care to patients requiring ongoing clinical management and recovery support.
- Monitor patients closely and recognize changes in medical, neurological, functional, and overall clinical status.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to support individualized rehabilitation goals.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, medication management, education, and preparation for discharge.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic and communicate important patient information during handoffs.
Important Scheduling & Overtime Policies
- Travel RNs cannot pick up overtime shifts unless specifically authorized under applicable procedural-area exceptions.
- Incidental overtime is not authorized or accumulable.
- Nurses are expected to provide timely handoff to the Charge RN or oncoming nurse when a code, RRT, or significant event occurs near shift change.
- Outstanding clinical tasks should be communicated directly during handoff if they are not readily apparent in the EMR.
- Meal breaks are required and should be taken during the scheduled shift.
- Untaken meal-break time cannot be accumulated or converted into additional hours.
- Nurses should contact the Charge RN, ANM, or Nurse Manager if assistance is needed with patient care, breaks, or handoff.
- The only noted exception for additional time involves certain procedural areas with on-call/scheduled procedures, when additional coverage is necessary to maintain procedural schedules or address emergent cases.
