Travel PCU Registered Nurse
LOCATION: Dallas, TX
Shift Type: Night Shift
Shift Time: Start Time: 06:45 PM End Time: 07:15 AM
Duration: 13 Weeks

GENERAL INFORMATION

UNIT DETAILS:

  • Number of Beds: 24

  • Number of Staff: 43

  • Patient Ratio: 1:3

  • Equipment:

    • Baxter IV Pumps

    • Hillrom

    • iMobile with Apple devices

    • Telemetry

  • EMR: Meditech

STAFFING:

Day Shift:

  • 1 Charge RN

  • 8 RNs

  • Unit Secretary (US)

  • 24 patients

Night Shift:

  • 1 Charge RN

  • 8 RNs

  • 24 patients

TYPICAL HIRING PROFILE

MUST HAVE:

  • Accountability for their actions

  • Knowledge of cardiac drips, including:

    • Amiodarone

    • Nitroglycerin

    • Cardene

    • Cardizem

PREFERRED / NICE TO HAVE:

  • Excellent communication with patients and the interdisciplinary team

  • At least 6 months of PCU experience

TYPICAL PROCEDURES / PATIENT POPULATION:

  • Post-op care following:

    • CABG

    • AVR/MVR

    • Aortic root repairs

    • LVAD procedures

    • Immediate post-VATS care, including chest tubes

  • Post-vascular surgery care

  • Pre- and post-cath lab procedures

  • Pre- and post-EP procedures, including:

    • Pacemaker

    • AICD

    • Heart catheterizations

    • PCI

    • TAVR

  • Bedside procedures:

    • Paracentesis

    • Thoracentesis

    • PICC insertion

BEST PERSONALITY FIT:

  • Caring

  • Great team player

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BLS

  • ACLS
  • NIH Certification

FLOATING AREAS:

  • Med-Surg / Telemetry

  • Orthopedics

WEEKENDS / ON-CALL:

  • 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

  • On-call requirements: Not specified
