Occupational Health RN.
The Caregiver Health Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing clinical caregiver health services. The Associate CHRN ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and PSJH policies. Participates as an integral team member with colleagues such as Infection Prevention, Absence and Disability Management, Workers' Compensation and Well-being to deliver high quality occupational and environmental health services. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization and promotion of integration of services with a culture of health and safety. The Associate CHRN provides pre-employment health screens, vaccinations, performs training and education, manages surveillance and in doing so supports caregivers within the scope of Caregiver Health Services to ensure they are as prepared as possible to perform their work duties safely.
Duties:
Perform pre-employment health screens, collaborating with Human resources, core leaders and Absence & Disability Management regarding any requested accommodations or unique circumstances identified in the health screen.
Responsible for providing and managing surveillance services, including Tuberculosis, hazardous drugs, lead, hearing conservation, and others as required by identification of hazard or federal or local regulation.
Ensures maintenance, storage, accuracy and confidentiality of employee health records, utilizing current standard operating procedures.
Participates on committees and in huddles as delegated to share employee health data, provide knowledge on Employee/Occupational Health standards and perspectives, and collaborate on measures to reduce risk and promote health and well-being of our caregivers.
Reviews occupational incident data in preparation for huddle, identifying trends in exposure types, routes, departments or titles and provides recommendations on prevention or mitigation measures.
Assesses the need for and provides vaccinations in alignment with PSJH policy.
Provides clinical expertise, guidance and restrictions regarding caregivers with infectious diseases according to current PSJH policy to reduce the risk of communicable disease.
Manages caregiver exposures to blood or body fluids or infectious disease following current PSJH policy and protocols, supporting the caregiver throughout the process and ensures results are provided to minimize the wait time as much as and whenever possible.
Travels to ministries of responsibility to provide on-site services as directed by CHS Manager.
Maintains awareness of resources available from Well-being and Injury Prevention & Ergonomics to share with caregivers as appropriate to ensure every encounter is as effective and supportive as possible in promotion of caregiver health and well-being.
Contributes to the development of standard operation procedures, clinical standard work, and other projects and programs in CHS.
Manages supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
Utilizes and ensures functionality of equipment.
Requirements:
Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.
Friendly and service-oriented.
Possesses intermediate flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty.
Demonstrated intermediate time management and priority setting skills.
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in healthcare, including the Joint Commission, local health department, OSHA, CDC.
New in-house EHR system will need to be learned, EPIC is no longer used.
