Travel RN – Emergency Department (ED)

Education & Experience

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• Recent Epic experience. The year the candidate last used Epic must be indicated on the cover page.

• Prior travel nursing experience, with at least one completed contract assignment.

Preferred Experience

- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced Emergency Department.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Active New Jersey RN license or applicable Compact RN license.

• AHA BLS.

• ACLS.

• PALS.

• NIHSS.

Important: Pending certifications or certifications expiring within 30 days of submission will not be accepted.

Requested Time Off (RTO)

Maximum 3 days

Hospital Orientation

Candidates will receive two separate communications from the hospital: an email containing the Monday welcome meeting link and login information, and direct communication from their manager regarding unit orientation and the remaining schedule.

The Monday email may arrive that morning but should be received by 8:30 AM. If the manager has not made contact by Monday, the candidate should notify their recruiter as soon as possible.

Orientation Schedule

1. Monday – Remote Orientation

   Morning welcome meeting, followed by self-paced learning modules.

2. Tuesday – Hospital Orientation

   Report to the assigned hospital to complete either the Epic competency test or Epic training modules, depending on the Epic Onboarding Form.

3. Wednesday–Saturday – Unit Orientation

   Complete scheduled unit orientation shifts. The manager will communicate the schedule directly.

Additional Orientation Requirements

ID Badge: Attend the scheduled badge appointment before the first unit shift to ensure the badge is active.

Point-of-Care Testing (POCT): The POCT class is scheduled during the second or third week of the assignment. Attendance is mandatory. Candidates can find the class date, time and location in HealthStream.
