Position Overview

San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in the Pre-Op department. The RN will provide safe, efficient pre-operative care to a diverse patient population across all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and patient evaluations.

• Prepare patients for scheduled surgical and procedural interventions.

• Verify medical history, medications, allergies, consents, and required documentation.

• Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition before procedures.

• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.

• Ensure appropriate pre-operative testing and preparation are completed.

• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and pre-operative instructions.

• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary care team.

• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EHR.

• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

• Provide compassionate care to patients across a diverse age range.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience

• Previous Pre-Op / Preoperative nursing experience

• BLS certification

• ACLS certification

• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital Pre-Op or Perioperative setting

• Experience caring for patients across multiple age groups

• Previous travel nursing experience

• Cerner EHR experience
