Patient Types:

All respiratory patients

Patient Ratios

Required Certifications:

Adult RT- BLS, ACLS, RRT
NICU RT- BLS, NRP, RRT

Skills required:

Adult RT- draw ABGs, assist with intubations, BIPAP, CPAP, Nebs, ventilator management, inhalers
NICU RT- Intubate, ventilator management, delivery attendance, nitrate oxide admin, BIPAP, CPAP, nebs, etc.

Education required

Support on the Unit:

CNA (Ratio):
Receptionist/HUC: 24/7
Charge nurse: free floating
Hospitalist: 24/7
Neonatologist in house 24/7
NICU RT Dept, PT, OT, ST dedicated to NICU
Telemetry monitoring

Technology/Equipment:

EMR: EPIC
IV pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Capsule Neuron

Floating: If yes, where:

The NICU RTs can float between Allis and Sinai- in rotation

Orientation: (facility and unit)

Two day Orientation

Scheduling:

Weekend rotation: Every 3 rd Weekend
On call: If so, what is that schedule: Yes
- NICU RTs: a varied call schedule
- Adult RTs: none
Holiday Expectations: rotation per department standards
Approval of time off:
Shift times: 0630-1900, 1430-0300, 1830-0700
Schedule cycle: every 3 weeks
