Richmond, VAPosition Summary
This Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in an oncology setting, delivering compassionate and skilled nursing services to patients undergoing cancer treatment. The role involves monitoring patient status, administering medications, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patient condition, including vital signs and symptoms related to oncology care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including chemotherapy protocols when applicable.
- Provide patient education and support regarding disease processes, treatment plans, and symptom management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards specific to oncology nursing.
Qualifications
Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Job Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and patient education abilities.
- Experience with oncology nursing preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
