Job Opportunity: Pharmacist - Pharmacy (Travel)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, hospital employees, and designated hospital areas.
- Practice in accordance with all state/federal and DEA laws, TJC Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians on drug selection and dosing.
- Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians regarding medications.
- Participate in Medication Safety initiatives.
- Manage patient profiles and report adverse drug reactions.
- Mix IV admixtures and nutritional supplements.
- Maintain narcotic accountability.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 7 Nights On / 7 Nights Off, 8:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Workdays: Wednesday through Tuesday
- No on-call required
- No 48-hour guarantee or blocked scheduling options
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Arizona Pharmacist License (required)
- ACLS & BLS certification (required)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years recent hospital pharmacist experience (required)
- Board certification and/or accredited pharmacy residency preferred but not required
- Inpatient acute hospital experience required
- Sterile compounding experience required
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
- Operational and people management skills to ensure patient satisfaction, quality improvement, and employee engagement.
- Comfortable working in a clean, smoke-free, well-lit healthcare environment with frequent use of video display and keyboard.
- Able to handle irregular hours and unpredictable clinical situations, including emergency care requiring sound judgment and action.

- Unit size: 44 beds plus Emergency Department
- Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
- Pharmacy open on recognized holidays
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work independently and meet multiple project deadlines.
- Exposure to unpleasant clinical elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness is expected.
- Frequent interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
