The Occupational Therapist conducts comprehensive evaluations of patients’ physical, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, and cognitive functioning using formal and informal assessment tools. Based on findings, the therapist develops and updates individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans in coordination with physicians, schedules therapy frequency and duration, and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, prognosis, and home programs. The therapist delivers therapeutic interventions, documents patient responses and changes in condition, and recommends and secures adaptive or supportive equipment when needed. The role also includes supervising OT assistants, home health aides, and students, coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, completing required documentation for billing and regulatory compliance, participating in care conferences, supporting program development and process improvement, and serving as a case manager while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional standards.
