Description
Position Overview
Provide sign language interpretation between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and teachers, staff, and other school community members across classroom and school-based settings.
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, meetings, conferences, testing, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities while adapting communication methods to each student’s individual needs.
Prepare for lessons and school activities by reviewing instructional materials and developing familiarity with subject-specific vocabulary.
Collaborate with educators and support teams to promote effective communication and meaningful student participation throughout the school day.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree + EIPA score of 3.5+ or
Bachelor’s degree + EIPA score of 4.0+ or National Interpreting Certification
Interpreter training program coursework and documented interpreting experience may be required depending on the assignment
Experience interpreting in educational settings and supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students is strongly preferred
