Description
Physical Therapist Assistant works under the Physical Therapist direction following the plan of care as documented by the Physical Therapist on the patient’s evaluation. Delivers physical therapy treatments as directed by the Physical Therapist and notifies Physical Therapist of changes in patient’s function and or progress. Supervises Rehab Techs/C.N.A. working in the rehab dept. Physical Therapist Assistant serves as educator to patients, families, co-workers, and self.
Essential Functions
Out-Patient: completes last patient visits note with necessary objective info for the Physical therapist to complete the discharge note
Attends dept staff meetings and contributes
Adheres to 8-minute rule when billing charges; Provides sufficient documentation to justify charges including: duration (time in/out and per modality), and detailed descriptions of interventions
Effectively manages problems and resolves conflict in a professional manner
Effectively reports potential safety issues to appropriate personnel
Identifies and challenges work processes
Works toward continuous improvement based on customer needs
Complies with specific hospital policy and procedures concerning infection control
Demonstrates compliance with National Patient Safety Goals
Willingly performs other duties as necessary
Education
Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program
License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State
Physical Therapist Assistant or eligibility for licensure by the state of Florida
Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
Work Experience
One (1) year Hospital Acute Care experience
