Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) perform designated Respiratory Care and Pulmonary diagnostic procedures, under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Coordinator or designee, in accordance with protocols and procedures established by the department and hospital, in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.
Respiratory Care services include, but are not limited to, the following activities performed upon physician order: Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures performed with the use of medical gases and administration apparatus, environmental control systems, humidification, and aerosols; Administration of drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system; Ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems; Bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises; Pulmonary rehabilitation; Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Maintenance of natural and artificial airways. These procedures are performed in critical care and non-critical care areas, on patients of all ages, in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Essential Functions
- Perform advanced respiratory therapy treatments and procedures, including mechanical ventilation and critical care management.
- Assess patients' respiratory status and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Monitor and evaluate patients' responses to therapy and make necessary adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care and management of respiratory conditions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
- Ensure all respiratory therapy equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory standards.
- Associate’s Degree Related field
- Registered Respiratory Therapist license from FL DOH
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS)
