Job Summary
Radiation Therapist (RTT) Palo Alto, California
Radiation Therapists deliver radiation therapy as prescribed by a Radiologist or Oncologist in accordance with established practices and standards. Responsibilities include preparing equipment and treatment/immobilization devices, performing or supporting patient simulations, documenting treatment records accurately, and ensuring patient safety through consistent adherence to department protocols and procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days (8 hours) minimum 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current and active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; current and active ARRT (Radiation Therapy) credentials for Radiation Therapy (as listed); current and active CRT-T certification (as listed); knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures involved in the operation of modern radiation therapy equipment and systems including simulation, imaging, and treatment procedures; knowledge of human anatomy and proper patient positioning to provide treatment as prescribed; knowledge of principles and methods to ensure safety and quality control; ability to explain treatment procedures to patients and/or family; ability to provide consistent safety in patient care through department protocols, policies, and procedures for treatment administration; ability to recognize deviations from prescribed treatment delivery and report all deviations to the appropriate operations leadership; ability to observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions and communicate findings to appropriate staff; ability to reinforce patient education and side-effect management information and indicate non-compliance to medical/nursing staff; ability to maintain safe and orderly patient treatment rooms, including assessing setup concerns and checking safety controls and devices daily; ability to perform warm up and calibration checks of equipment as necessary; ability to complete accurate documentation of treatment records

• Additional Information: Responsibilities may include reviewing prescription and diagnosis; acting as a liaison with physician and supportive care personnel; preparing equipment such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices; maintaining records, reports, and files; assisting with dosimetry procedures and tumor localization; ensuring quality treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation; reviewing treatment/simulation documentation for accuracy and completeness; working closely with radiation oncology coders; maintaining a caring and supportive atmosphere for patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers; performing other related and incidental duties as needed or assigned
