Truckee, CA
About
Truckee started as a California Gold Rush town but blossomed into one of the top outdoor destinations in the west. The Truckee River, a favorite for rafting and kayaking, flows right through the middle of town. Hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities abound in every direction in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. In the winter, Lake Tahoe’s world-famous skiing and snowboarding are less than 30 minutes away. Those less inclined to frolic in the great outdoors can visit the quaint downtown shops and participate in more peaceful activities, like blowing glass at Truckee Glassblowing. This quintessential mountain town also offers delectable alpine cuisine at restaurants like the Old Jailhouse Café, Cottonwood Restaurant and The Red Truck Trading Company.
