Job Summary:
Histology Technician in Aiea, Hawaii. This position involves performing histologic techniques, routine and special staining, and preparation of surgical and cytologic specimens. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Location: Aiea, HI
• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelors degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution; two (2) years of recent work experience as a histology technician; Certified as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)

• Additional Information: Performs block and slide preparation including embedding tissue specimens, sectioning, staining, mounting, and labeling tissue sections. Operates and maintains histology equipment, prepares solutions, and conducts quality assurance activities. Administrative duties include filing paraffin blocks and tissue stains, discarding blocks after required storage, and operating laboratory computer systems. Requires manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, ability to distinguish colors, and ability to wear personal protective equipment. May occasionally lift up to 35 pounds and perform ground or air travel as needed. Work environment includes conditions common to a hospital/laboratory setting with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious materials.
