Description

Job Summary: Ultrasonographer Echo (Cardiac Sonographer) Austin, Minnesota. The healthcare provider performs complete echocardiographic studies, integrating cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures to obtain pertinent patient data. The role includes accurate documentation of echocardiogram information using the Echo Information Management System and other required computer applications. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30AM4 PM, 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: One of the following is required: Associates degree or graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program; Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) (ARDMS/CCI); Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of cardiac experience is preferred and registry eligible; experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including transesophageal and stress echo; experience with outreach services; proficiency scanning cardiac abnormalities and adapting to echocardiography procedures; ability to scan a full echo and report in 60 minutes; proficiency in GE and Philips machines; familiarity with EPIC experience.
  • Responsibilities: Independently completes echocardiographic studies using critical thinking and problem-solving to obtain comprehensive results; collaborates with lead cardiac sonographers, advanced cardiac sonographers, echocardiographers, physicians, and other team members to support interpretation of echocardiographic findings; assists with orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to cardiovascular services; supports stress lab and stress echo lab procedures; demonstrates flexibility in learning equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures; demonstrates knowledge of sterile procedures and isolation precautions to help prevent exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments; is accountable for proficiency aligned to the appropriate competencies; performs physical tasks required for the role, including frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling, and reaching above shoulder level; communicates effectively verbally and in writing, with good hearing and visual acuity; provides adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) across inpatient and outpatient settings, including emergency cases, with comprehensive understanding of cardiac hemodynamics, PISA quantification, strain, and simple pediatric indications (for patients 5 years and older), including experience with Definity, Optison, and bubble studies (agitated saline).
  • Additional Information: The cardiac sonographer is available for 24-hour call with a required 30-minute response time. Expectations include outreach, on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed.
